Melissa Oneil

MelissaMelissa Crystal O'Neil (born July 12 1988,) is a Canadian performer and actress. O'Neil was the first Canadian woman to be the winner of Canadian Idol's third season in 2005. She is an actress and is well-known for her roles as Two and Rebecca or Portia Lin in the Syfy science fiction series Dark Matter and as Officer Lucy Chen on the ABC police procedural drama The Rookie.Although she was greatly praised by the judges, O'Neil experienced major setbacks in both the Top 10 and Top 9 weeks of the finals as she was voted in the lowest three and the bottom two as well as the bottom two. In shock, the judges asked viewers to cast their votes for contestants who resembled Melissa who was clearly a singer with the greatest vocal talent. O'Neil was acknowledged for her talent and she never dropped back to the bottom three. Zack Werner declared that O'Neil was "a threat" to win the whole competition. O'Neil, along with Rex Goudie, made it to the finals on September 7th the 7th of September, 2005. Werner, a judge, famously declared that the headlines in the following day's papers would be "The King [Kalan Porter] is dead. The Queen will live forever." O'Neil defeated Goudie in the grand finale results show, September 14 in 2005. O'Neil was also crowned the third Canadian Idol and the first female winner.
