Catherine Ford is a British actress, born in Bloomsbury. After her father left her household, the actress was raised to maturity by her mother, godparents, and grandmother. Ford was suffering from anxiety disorder that was rooted in words as a young teenager. Ford was first fascinated by acting at the age of teenager and enrolled in the National Youth Theatre. Ford gained entry to the Sylvia Young Theatre School, but decided after a week that she wasn't a good fit there. Ford was then able to apply for a spot at the Central School of Speech and Drama and was admitted on her fourth attempt. A classmate of hers was Shaun Dingwall, who would play a part in the role of Pete Tyler in Doctor Who. Ford earned her bachelor's degree in 1993. But, before then, Ford made a television debut, appearing as a character in Surgical Spirit in an episode from the year 1991. Ford took the professional name Catherine Tate. Tate was featured in such TV shows such as The Bill, Men Behaving Badly as well as London Burning. Tate was also a regular performer as a theatre actor and was eventually a part of the Royal Shakespeare Company during its season 2000-2001. Tate was first noticed because of her stand-up comedic performances in the year 1996.
